JOALI Maldives welcomes world-renowned culinary artist Marie Yuki Méon

12 March 2024

This Easter, JOALI Maldives will be joined by world-renowned visiting culinary artist Marie Yuki Méon, who will lead an exclusive art dinner and an interactive artistic brunch for guests to participate in during their holiday.

Honing in on the island’s devotion to the arts, Méon’s multidisciplinary studio Manger Manger, which creates narratives composed of edible elements to be viewed and tasted, will add a new dimension of culinary delight to the resort’s Easter festivities, aligned with the concept of ‘Together WE Blossom’.

The first and only art-immersive resort in the Maldives, located in the spectacular Raa Atoll, invites guests to experience Easter with curated activities and special celebrations from March 28 to April 7, 2024. Easter at JOALI Maldives, centred around the theme of ‘Together WE Blossom’, symbolises the coming together of people in celebration, much like the blossoming of flowers in spring.

Easter is a key moment in the celebration of Spring, when the renewal of nature and blossoming happen, giving us the pleasure of being together, “here and now”. Our aim is to symbolise ‘Joie de Vivre’ through a playful and festive spirit by integrating interactive gestures around food, while incorporating local natural resources through crafts, ingredients and produce,” shares Marie.

Of Franco-Japanese origin, Marie Yuki Méon spent her childhood in Tokyo. At 18, she moved to Paris to study interior design, graduating from Ecole Nissim de Camondo before going on to work with names like Dior and Chanel. She spent 10 years as a retail designer, learning the codes of luxury, and the requirements of excellence.

Marie then took a big step towards fully devoting herself to food, joining a school of culinary arts from where she graduated with a certificate of professional competence and various internships in Parisian bistros such as Verre Volé and Sur Mer. In 2017, she founded Manger Manger. Imagined as a multi-disciplinary studio where ingredients and food are thought of as creative tools, Manger Manger creates tailormade narratives composed of edible elements to be viewed and tasted, through installations, meals or visuals, for clients such as Loewe, Ruinart, Chaumet, Chloé, Gucci and Cartier.
