This Easter, JOALI Maldives transformed into a living canvas, painted with the colours of joy and transformation. Our celebration was inspired by the free-spirited Painted Lady Butterfly, known for its migration to secret corners of the world.
From the moment travellers stepped onto our island’s pristine shores, kissed by turquoise waters, they were swept up in the magic of the season. The air hummed with anticipation, and joy waited around every bend. After months of dreaming and planning, our team was delighted to finally unveil an array of amazing experiences. Designed to spark curiosity, creativity and connection, our Easter calendar welcomed guests to let their inner butterfly soar on wings of wonder!
As though plucked from a child’s imagination, Muramas Kids Club came alive with colour and wonder, taking everyone along on a heartwarming Easter Day adventure. Family members of all generations gathered here for curated activities, ranging from exhilarating group games to quiet moments of familial bonding.
Inspired to see the world with fresh eyes, we set off on a Family Egg Hunt, following clues left by the Easter Bunny across the island. As guests tracked down eggs hidden among palm fronds and sandy nooks, the air rang with laughter and glee – the perfect soundtrack for Easter Sunday.
Then it was time for the Bubble & Foam Party, where kids played with abandon, dancing free with shimmering spheres that caught the sunlight. The day ended under a glittering Maldivian sky, with young explorers and their families enjoying a session of stargazing together before cosying up for movie night.
The crystal-clear waters around JOALI Maldives provided the perfect backdrop for Easter escapades. Guests hopped onto jet-skis, ready to reignite their sense of wonder with an adrenaline-pumping ride. Picture it now: the wind in your hair, the sun on your face, the sea-spray on your skin… It’s easy to fall in love with life when you’re gliding across our dreamy lagoon!
Our eFoil electric boards, which go up to 50 km/hr in seconds, gave daring travellers the chance to catch a wave anytime, anywhere. Along the way, we paused at remote sandbanks and visited secret snorkelling spots, guided by our resident experts.
The highlight for romantic souls? The sunset cruise, of course. With the departing sun casting its golden glow across the waves, voyagers enjoyed ethereal views and vibes along with Champagne and canapés aboard the JOALI yacht.
The excitement continued on land, as Visiting Master Sifu Aniket motivated guests to unleash their warrior spirit through martial arts. Learning these ancient practices of balance, power and discipline set the stage for a transformative journey, much like the first flutter of a butterfly’s wings.
This Easter, the culinary offerings at JOALI Maldives were nothing short of art. Guests were treated to the genius of Visiting Chef Gonzo Jiménez, a renowned chocolatier who was featured on Netflix’s Bake Squad. Chef Gonzo’s Easter residency brought an extra layer of edible indulgence to the week – from exclusive desserts and turndown surprises to a series of chocolate workshops. Little ones giggled happily as they painted chocolate Easter eggs, while grown-ups enjoyed their hands-on journey into the world of artisanal confections.
Signature dining experiences added a burst of flavour to the Easter revelry. Unexpected delights took centre stage at the ‘Flavours of Transformation’ dinner by Visiting Chef Alex Webb, known for his innovative creations, which led him to victory on BBC’s MasterChef: The Professionals. Taking inspiration from the Painted Lady Butterfly, Chef Alex crafted dishes reflecting evolution and discovery, with each bite eliciting a sense of surprise.
Our own culinary artists wowed guests with a series of themed dinners. Whether indulging in Easter Sunday treats, feasting on sushi by the sea, or exploring our street food fiesta, every bite was an explosion of joie de vivre, a delicious memory in the making.
JOALI Maldives is an art-immersive island – and we stayed true to our creative spirit during Easter by carving out plenty of room for the imagination to take flight. Spring colours bloomed across t-shirts, tote bags and wooden bunnies as we experimented with mesmerising hues and patterns from nature’s own canvas.
And an extra-special ceramics class taught guests how to make a bunny cup using the hand-building technique. The soft clay in their hands reconnected some to forgotten passions, and others to a sense of calm that is often missing in daily life.
Looking back, Easter 2025 at JOALI Maldives was more than a celebration. It was a canvas, alive with colour and movement, painted with profound moments of togetherness. It was a reminder that transformation isn’t a destination but a journey, meant to be shared and savoured.
Inspired by the Painted Lady Butterfly, our guests revelled in the Joy of Living, surrounded by the untouched beauty of nature. At JOALI Maldives, there’s no need to go looking for joy. Just wait for it…joy will find you!
